How will your interactive learning resource specifically ensure that the needs of all learners can be met?

For my pod’s interactive learning resource we will ensure that all needs of all learners will be met. This will be done by looking at all students abilities and learning styles. The inclusive education law in Canada ensures that education providers are making their services accessible for those with disabilities (EdTech Admin, 2021). British Columbia has put this law in place to ensure that all students have “equitable access to learning, opportunities for achievement, and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their education programs” (EdTech Admin, 2021). For our interactive learning resource we have considered barriers that can occur for some students. We have taken into account that all students learn differently and at different pace. We have found that those who are hands on with an activity tend to learn better and it stays in their cognitive storage longer. It is due to this that we have implemented several hands on activities. Our first activity is drawing a mind map. For those that may have learning barriers and learn at a slower pace, we can add a word bank at the bottom. Even if the student does not know the material they are provided with this word bank and does not learn the mind map blank. The word bank can also help students generate more ideas through connecting them to the words given to them. For our third activity, it gives students the chance to work with others. This method is beneficial since it allows their peers to lend a helping hand.

“We retain 75% of what we do compared to 5% of what we hear and 10% of what we read” (What is Inquiry-based, 2018). Studies show that students learn better through interactive learning. We are making sure the students’ learning needs are met through providing activities that allow them to engage with the material. We want students to deepen their understanding of the topic. It is because of this that we have created an interactive learning resource that adjusts to learning barriers.
